Hardwoods

Hardwood is this term used to describe timber from non-monocot angiosperm trees. Hardwoods are usually broad-leaved; in temperate and boreal latitudes they are mostly deciduous, but in tropics and subtropics mostly evergreen.

In general hardwood species are higher in density and hardness than softwoods, although there is an enormous variation in actual wood hardness in both groups.

Hardwoods are suitable for a large range of applications including construction, furniture and flooring. International Timber supplies a huge range of high quality hardwoods only from sources determined to be ‘legal’ and ‘legal & sustainable’ under UK government procurement (CPET) criteria.

International Timber imports, kilns and machines tropical and temperate hardwood timbers so that they are fit for end use applications. We also supply laminated hardwood components. See the menu opposite for more information.
